Below please find our current offerings.  If you have an interest in another topic—let us know!  We’re always interested in creating opportunities for learning together.

Lehrhaus at Beth Sholom

The Adult Education Committee is pleased to invite congregants and the broader Jewish community of Memphis to the new "Lehrhaus at Beth Sholom" lecture/discussion series. Lehrhaus at Beth Sholom takes its inspiration from The Free Jewish House of Learning, the school for Jewish studies and adult education founded by Franz Rosenzweig in Frankfurt in 1920. Our series will consist of four evening events over the course of 5776. During each Lehrhaus evening, one of the many Memphian scholars who work on Jewish-related topics will offer some comments and lead a discussion. Lehrhaus events will be held on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 at Beth Sholom and will be followed by a brief reception.

The Omer Challenge
Challenge yourself to use the 49 day period between the second day of Passover and Shavuot—known in ancient times as the time of the barley harvest—to concentrate and grow in body, mind, spirit, or work to repair the world.  This year we’ll be looking at ways to engage in this challenge individually, in fellowship with other congregants, in our local community, and for the entire world.  We’ll be delving into issues of health and spirituality.  Schedule to be released soon.
